WITH RESULTS NOW OFFICIAL FROM MID-OHIO, HUNTER YEANY AND VELOCITY RACING DEVELOPMENT HAVE THREE WINS AND FIVE PODIUM RESULTS IN FIVE RACES
Velocity Racing Development (VRD) sped into an amazing start of the 2020 racing season with results from the first round at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course made official by the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda program last week. VRD driver Hunter Yeany scored the team’s first win and first podium result in his first start of the season as the rain shortened race was only green for a couple of corners. Rookie competitors Kyffin Simpson and Erik Evans checked off many of their goals as all three VRD drivers ran inside the top-ten throughout the race weekend.
With confirmation earlier this week of post event penalties, Hunter Yeany added the Mid-Ohio victory and podium result to his two wins and another podium from Virginia International Raceway two weeks ago. To date, Yeany has scored three wins and five podiums to kick off his 2020 F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda.
At Mid-Ohio, teammates and fellow F4 rookie drivers Kyffin Simpson and Erik Evans put three VRD drivers in the top-ten as Simpson rocketed forward five positions to finish ninth while Evans gained three positions to come home tenth in a race that eventually ended under yellow flag conditions. Sunday, the duo of Simpson and Evans again finished ninth and tenth in the thirty-three-car field after Simpson was hit with a five second jump start penalty after a protest was made by an unknown competitor.
It is now off to Barber Motorsports Park for the next round of the F4 United States Championship this weekend July 31st – August 2nd.
