SUPERTUNE ENTERS SEVEN IN FINAL ROUND OF FLORIDA WINTER TOUR
After standing in the top step of the podium during the second round of the ROK Cup USA Florida Winter Tour, Supertune drivers are looking to do the same this coming weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida. Taking on the temporary, barrier lined circuit at the Tropicana Field, the Tony Kart program will enter seven drivers across four divisions as they look to end the popular winter karting program on a high.
“It was good weekend in Ocala, but the entire team is excited for the first ever karting event in St. Pete,” explained Ben Cruttenden. “We have a busy two weeks, and frankly we have had a busy first two months of the season. The goal is to end the Florida Winter Tour strong and springboard that momentum into the rest of 2020.”
The Mini ROK class is where Team Supertune has been dominant in the past two seasons, and they will enter three drivers hungry for more wins and podiums in St. Pete. Round two pole position winner Diego Ardiles will look to continue his speed onto the temporary circuit while Challenge of the Americas front-runner Christian Cameron continues to gain experience and knowledge that is helping him in events back home. Christian Quijano will be back with Supertune and while Ocala did not go as planned, he will look to turn his luck around at a new, never seen before circuit.
With three drivers in Mini ROK, only a single Supertune entry will be present in both the Micro ROK and Senior ROK classes as Alessandro Truchot and Cole Morgan will aim to be at the pointy end of their respective classes.
Carson Morgan and Anderson Leonard will pilot Supertune Tony Karts in the ROK Junior class. Morgan was one of the drivers to beat in Ocala scoring the pole position for all three heat races and one heat race win. A DNF in the prefinal forced him to start P30 for Sunday’s main event and the junior driver drove like a seasoned veteran slicing his way through the field to finish ninth and be classified as the hardest charger of the event. Missing the second round of the Florida Winter Tour program, Leonard will be back with the Supertune to close the series. Adding a last-minute entry to their program, Jorge Ortiz will back with Team Supertune and enter the 100cc Junior division in St. Pete.
Team Supertune will hit the track on Thursday for unofficial practices with qualifying and heat one taking place on Friday afternoon. Saturday will see competitors compete in heats two, three and the prefinal with Championship Sunday the home for the main events and championship celebrations.
