MAXSON AND GONZALEZ READY FOR WEATHERTECH RACEWAY LAGUNA SECA

Copeland Motorsports drivers Tyler Maxson and Tyler Gonzalez will be vying to stand on the podium again this coming weekend, September 10th-12th, at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. Heading to the West Coast, the teenage duo will take on the 2.238-mile road course in their #27 Hyundai Veloster N TCR.

After a disappointing seventh place finish last month at Road America after being close to the top of the results sheets in practice, both drivers took the month to refocus as they prepare for the remaining three rounds of the 2021 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season. This weekend, they will be joining the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Lamborghini Super Trofeo and Mazda MX-5 Cup for the 2021 Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship weekend.

“I am really looking forward to getting back out on track, especially at a facility such as Laguna Seca,” expressed Tyler Maxson, who is fresh of a Pirelli GT4 SprintX victory with Samantha Tan Racing at Road America. “Copeland Motorsports has had some success there in the past, albeit in different series, but I think we have some good momentum and confidence heading into the weekend. We have been fast a lot this year, just luck has not been on our side so we are hoping that we can flip the script on the other side of the country this weekend.”

Gonzalez added, “The Copeland Motorsports crew is second to none and they have proven that both in their pit stops and work off the track this season. Not only do they deserve a win, I think Tyler and I do as well and that is what we will be pushing for. We have had a pole position, a front row starting spot, lots of speed, podiums and several top-five finishes. Once we get that first win, the rest will come and there is no better weekend to do it than this weekend.”

The weekend will kick off on Friday, September 10th with two afternoon practice sessions. Qualifying will take place on Saturday afternoon and the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca 120 will begin later that afternoon at 4:40pm PDT.
