KYFFIN SIMPSON BRINGS SPEED CONCEPTS RACING TWO MORE CHAMPIONSHIPS

It was a championship winning performance for Speed Concepts Racing driver Kyffin Simpson this past weekend at the Ocala Gran Prix facility in Ocala, Florida. Taking on the Sunshine State Karting Challenge (SSKC), Simpson rounded out his season with second and sixth place results, garnering enough points to claim both the X30 Junior and KA100 Junior championships.

“I really enjoyed the SSKC program as well as competing against the talented drivers from the state of Florida,” explained Simpson. “The series is a great training ground as to be the best, you must beat the best. With different drivers showing strengths at different tracks, it is interesting as you are racing someone different at the front every weekend. The racing is always so close.”

After kicking off the season earlier in the year in Ocala, Simpson’s main focus of the championship was to gain experience and increase track time in his IAME X30 powered Tony Kart. Finishing round one on the podium with a second place finish, Simpson was forced to miss round two due to battling flu like symptoms. Rounds three and four at the AMR Motorplex in Homestead, Florida saw a fourth place finish on Saturday and an impressive win on Sunday.

Simpson continued, “In Homestead, I really should have been on the podium both days. Saturday saw an intense three kart battle for the second step of the podium and in the last corner, I drew the short straw and finished fourth.”

Showing his talents in round five at the Andersen Race Park, Simpson secured another third place result in a fully wet race and returned Sunday to stand on the podium in the second position. Continuing his front of the field performances, the now champion finished second on Saturday during the first final this past weekend, and closed his championship winning year out with a sixth-place finish in final two.

“I really want to thank the series for their decision-making and moving Sunday’s final to Saturday with the incoming weather,” added Simpson. “Their decision kept everyone safe and allowed us to get back home to our families.”

Along with the X30 Junior championship, Simpson also secured the KA100 Junior title as well as a ticket to join Team USA at the IAME International Final later this year in Le Mans, France.

With several national karting series now complete for 2019, Speed Concepts Racing has their sights firmly planted on the ROK Cup USA ROK the RIO and the SKUSA SuperNationals in Las Vegas, Nevada later this year.
