JASON BELL HEADS TO EUROPE TO PILOT PORSCHE GT2 ENTRY IN SPA
A fixture in SRO Motorsports Group America events over the past two seasons, GMG Racing driver Jason Bell is heading to Europe. Set to take part in the GT2 launch during the 2019 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup at the Total 24 Hours of Spa weekend, Bell will pilot the new Porsche as he prepares for multiple programs in 2020.
“It is pretty cool to be heading to Spa, a track that you only see on TV and read about, to be able to compete in a GT2 machine,” explained Bell. “The guys at GMG Racing have been instrumental in organizing these efforts, and I cannot wait to get over there and drive this new beast of a car.”
The 911 GT2 RS Clubsport is powered by a 700hp 3.8-litre six-cylinder aluminum twin-turbo engine, and can deliver maximum performance precisely where required, thanks to its optimized intercooler with redesigned supply and return air feed, as well as its race-optimized water spray system. The shift time 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) instantly transmits any pressure on the accelerator to the rear axle. The exhaust system, specially developed for the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, features a 100-cell metal catalytic converter and perfectly complements the motorsport-optimized design. The chassis was also designed specifically for the race track. The separately adjustable compression and rebound stages of the three-way shock absorbers on the front and rear axle allow steering response, tire grip and handling characteristics to be adapted to various track profiles.
Competing in the Porsche GT2 RS Clubsport demonstration over the race weekend, Bell will see the Spa-Francorchamps circuit for the first time behind the wheel on Thursday, July 25th. Friday, July 26th will be the home of qualifying and the first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend while Saturday, July 27th will see the green flag for race two. The Total 24 Hours of Spa will begin Saturday afternoon and run until 4:30pm on Sunday
Jason Bell would like to thank all of his partners for their continued support. A huge thanks to GMG Racing, Kavana Rum, Ceramic Pro, Highway Systems Incorporated, Osteria Tampa, Frost NYC, and Gridsport.
